Paintings by Jean-Pierre Theard

Jean-Pierre Theard was born in Aquin, Haiti in 1949. He originally studied architecture but on a trip to Mexico in 1969 he became deeply impressed with the work of Diego Rivera. He began to paint, developing a unique style which adopted elements of surrealism and cubism.

Theard has exhibited widely in Haiti, the U.S., France, and the West Indies. His paintings are sought after and highly valued by a large community of collectors. The painting below is a large and excellent example of a series of works he did with surreal hats as the subject.
