"On either end of this canvas you can see our worlds crumbling and weeping. In the middle of the canvas is a crumbling wall, which represents Haiti, which is no longer a nation, but just a place.
The central focus of the canvas is four veiled women, who at present are prevented from seeing, hearing, and speaking. They are howling at the situation. The jug in the foreground and the figure within represents the working people of Haiti and the world.
The drops of liquid falling from the jug are the sweat of the people, whose world is also crumbling. The central figure also howls in anguish. In the lower right corner is the 'lamp of knowledge' which is also crumbling, and producing only smoke. The vessel at the lower
left represents religion (voudou), also crumbling because even that no longer sustains. Our only hope for the future lies with the women, once they are unveiled."
