THE ELECTRIC GALLERY

'Abstract Realism' - Paintings by Peter Scott

The artist, a native New Yorker, began painting in 1994 after a career in radio, television, and advertising. Without formal training, his landscapes are realistic and intricate in their brushwork. He has a photographic eye and a wealth of natural ability.

In the relatively few years Scott has been painting, he has shown in more than thirty juried group exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, Pennnsylvania, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. In addition, he has a dozen one man shows in galleries in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York, and Ohio. These include a show at the National Geographic in New York.

Peter Scott considers himself "an artist in a hurry." He studies his subjects carefully before he begins to work. Then, "When I have, in my mind's eye, the feel that I'm going for," he says, "I work it out on canvas. I try very hard not to be influenced by the style or ideas of other artists. If some things do creep into my work, it is not intentional."
