Paintings by Penny Margolis

Penny Margolis, an Ohio folk artist, paints a world filled with color and harmony. A fanciful touch and a hint of the mystical infuse the creatures, gardens, and villages of her faraway dreamlands. Pieces such as "The Dreamer," "The Gift," and "Springtime" introduce other places, other folks. Yet you find yourself in a place very close to the heart. Her intricate, innocent paintings with handcrafted and hand painted frames simply make you feel good.

Penny has been married for 37 years, has 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. She loves to paint, cook, read mystery novels to herself and fairy tales to the grandchildren. She likes bright, sunny days and bright colors; most of all she dislikes empty places, as one can see from her fancifully filled paintings.

Each of Penny's paintings is framed with "double" framing of hand-sawed wood, painted with matching borders and design elements from the paintings themselves. Each piece has a total depth of about 1.5 inches, giving them a substantial, three dimensional quality.
