Paintings by Linda Brown

Linda Marie Kirk was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on April 4, 1948. She grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she developed a love and appreciation for art.

During her youthful years, her parents would take Linda and her two younger sisters on picnics in various parks in Indiana and on vacations in cabins at various lakeside camps in Canada and throughout the United States. Sometimes she would fish with her father or go on nature hikes with her family. All of this instilled a deep love for country life and the small simple community.

In 1968, Linda met the man who she would marry, a soldier stationed nearby at Fort Harrison. In August of the same year, she became his bride and moved into a small house next to one of the city parks. In 1970, Linda’s first child was born, a daughter named Tina. In 1974, a son named Brent, followed. In 1975, the Brown family moved to the rural farm community of New Palestine, Indiana, where they lived until 1985, when Larry was transferred to a new job in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Browns moved to Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, and Linda began to take long walks in the country. Then she began to, once again, paint, as she once loved to do in her school years. Sinking Spring lies in the midst of many rural Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish farms. Many of them still utilize the old farming methods (the Amish farm as they did over a century ago). Linda wants to capture the heart and essence of this land and these people on canvas before it becomes too late.
