Paintings by Luckner Lazard



Luckner Lazard was born in Port-au-Prince in 1928 and died several years ago. He studied at the Centre d'Art from 1945 to 1950, then received a scholarship to study in Paris in 1951-2. His work was exhibited widely in the 1950s and 1960s in the Caribbean, Europe, and the U.S. to great acclaim.

In 1956 he opened his own gallery. He lived in the United States for many years.

The painting below, a wonderful example of his early work, is dated 1952.
